We flew into Osaka last night, got some rest, then took the train to Kyoto this morning. Kyoto is the ancient capital of Japan and has many temples and historic sites. It was the only major city in Japan that was spared bombing in WWII. So many of the old buildings still exist. It is at the foot of some mountains with a climate much like San Francisco.
